MTSU Seeks Adjunct Instructor for Writing for Interactive Experiences Class

The Interactive Media degree program at Middle Tennessee State University is in need of an adjunct instructor to teach our Writing for Interactive Experiences class. This class covers some basic writing skills with the majority of the class covers writing for the web, social media, and UX writing.

Requirements:

A Master’s in Media Arts or closely related field. A bachelor’s degree in media arts or a closely related field plus 10 years of industry experience in interactive media may be accepted in lieu of a master’s degree.  Five or more years of recent industry experience in developing and implementing interactive media projects and content such as websites and social media, as well as experience in content strategy, creation, and management as they relate to interactive media. 

Applicants will be required to provide a portfolio of examples of their work at the time of application.  

Special consideration will be given to those who have prior college-level teaching experience; extensive professional experience in interactive media and working knowledge of the following:

  • Website creation, both flat HTML, CSS and JavaScript, as well as content managed (WordPress, Drupal, etc.); 
  • social media implementation and management in an organizational setting with sites and tools such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, HootSuite, etc.;
  • UX & UI design, including flat and responsive design, for web and mobile platforms; production of interactive media content including text, image, sound, and video.;
  • Search Engine Optimization; online tools such as Discord, Google Docs, Mailchimp, etc.;
  • Adobe Creative Suite.

You will work from an existing syllabus with existing assignments. Position is in Murfreesboro and begins August 1, 2021.
