IABC Nashville Presents President’s Award to Lysa Rigo and Sarah Loeffler

NASHVILLE – (Feb. 27, 2018)  – The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Nashville Chapter presented the President’s Award to board members Lysa Rigo and Sarah Loeffler during its Feb. 20 professional development luncheon. 2017 IABC president Tom Kenley presented the award, which recognizes exceptional contributions by chapter members, to Lysa and Sarah for showing extraordinary commitment to the chapter’s growth and wellbeing in 2017.

On the heels of winning an IABC Gold Quill Award for her work at Ingram Barge, Lysa Rigo, vice president of finance for IABC Nashville, successfully reorganized the chapter’s financial affairs and has shared her expertise with chapter members and university students alike. “Lysa is always one of the first to volunteer to help with special chapter projects,” said Tom Kenley. “We couldn’t have done it without her last year.”

Sarah Loeffler, vice president of membership for IABC Nashville, continually reaches out to potential members through mixers and one-on-one networking. “Sarah consistently offers assistance with special projects,” said Kenley. “Fortunately, her commitment has continued as her chapter responsibilities have grown, and we are excited to learn that she has agreed to continue her contribution to the chapter by becoming the chapter’s president-elect this year.”

Genma Holmes Among 2018 Influential Black Women In Business

The Network Journal (TNJ; TNJ.com) has announced their Twentieth Annual Influential Black Women in Business Awards and unveiled its 2018 list of 25 Influential Black Women in Business honorees.

Genma Holmes, Owner/Holmes Pest Control and CEO at GSH Consulting, host of Living Your Best Life, Nationally Syndicated Radio Show, and IABC Nashville Board Member, is among this year’s designees. Congratulations, Genma!

“The women we honor in the 20th year of the awards span occupations, industries and expertise, and they share the same traits when it comes to their career and community service: passion, drive and focus. IABC Nashville is Named 2017 Small Chapter of the Year; Invites Area Communicators to March 15 Lunch

NASHVILLE, Tenn., March 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — The Nashville Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators, which was recently named IABC’s “2017 Small Chapter of the Year,” invites communications professionals from all industries to its March 15 professional development lunch at Maggiano’s Little Italy in Nashville. Registration is now open for the 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. event.

Attendees to the March 15 event, “Expanding Your Circle of Influence,” will hear from Cheryl Read, president of Cheryl L. Read & Associates. Read, who has more than 30 years of experience in brand marketing, communications and relationship management, will share her advice on seeking out new connections, building relationships and ultimately expanding your Circle of Influence. The cost to attend is $30 for members, $40 for non-members and $25 for students.

Throughout her corporate and financial experience, Read spent 29 years with Tennessee-based HCA, the nation’s leading provider of healthcare services. Her responsibilities included all division communications, marketing management, diversity and inclusion and community relations at HCA working specifically with the hospitals located in Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, Virginia, and Georgia.

IABC Nashville won the 2017 Small Chapter of the Year award at the Feb. 23 International Association of Business Communicator’s 2017 Chapter Management Awards in Dallas, Texas. Additionally, the chapter won two Chapter Management Awards (CMAs) in the categories of Event Management and Communication Management.

This year’s accolades were due in large part to the chapter’s efforts to communicate the rebranding of its Music City Gold Pen Awards and organization of the awards gala that was held in May at the Oak Room at Greenbrier Distillery. This is the chapter’s second consecutive year of being recognized for Chapter Management achievement. In 2016, IABC Nashville’s efforts to incorporate new branding to align with the association’s new guidelines earned the chapter a CMA in Communication Management.

IABC Nashville Wins Merit Chapter Management Award!

Congratulations to IABC Nashville for winning a Chapter Management Award of Merit in Communications at the 2016 Chapter Management Awards, held in conjunction with the IABC Leadership Institute, in Long, Beach, CA, Feb. 4-6.

Accepting the award was Past President Jennifer Fuqua and Vice Presidents of Awards, President Elect Tom Kenley. The award was based on the work the chapter did to rebrand in their local market following IABC’s new brand launch at the World Conference in 2015.

The Brand Committee included: Jennifer Fuqua (chair), Phil Matisak, President, Gene Boulware, Vice President of Membership, Tom Kenley and Gayle Gallager (member).
